युद्ध वह विनाशलीला है, जिसमें जीतने वाला भी अक्सर हार ही जाता है। फिर चाहे कलिंग युद्ध में जीतकर हारे सम्राट अशोक हों या ग्रीक माइथॉलजी के सबसे चर्चित युद्ध ट्रॉय का नायक ओडिस‍ियस। इथाका का राजा ओडिसियस वह बुद्धिमान और दिलेर योद्धा था, जिसने अपनी सूझबूझ से ट्रॉय की अजेय दीवारें भेद दी थीं। वह लकड़ी के विशाल घोड़े के भीतर अपनी सेना को छिपाकर महल के भीतर जा पंहुचा और जीत की अमिट इबारत लिख दी। लेकिन 10 साल चली इस जंग में मिली जीत के बाद ओडिसियस को घर लौटना था। घर वापसी का यह सफर सिर्फ 10 साल लंबा ही नहीं है, बल्‍क‍ि ओडिस‍ियस के लिए एक अंदरूनी और बाहरी लड़ाई भी है। ग्रीक साहित्यकार होमर ने अपने महाकाव्य ‘ओडिसी’ में इसका विस्‍तृत वर्णन किया है। अब इसी कालजयी कहानी को हॉलीवुड के दिग्गज फिल्मकार क्रिस्टोफर नोलन बड़े पर्दे पर लेकर आए हैं। कहना गलत नहीं होगा कि ‘ओडिसी’ जैसी अजर-अमर कहानी को सिनेमैटिक न्याय दे पाना नोलन जैसे जीनियस के ही बस की बात है।
